Decimals in Stock Quantity

I would like to keep track of my rawmaterial stock level with at least two decimals. In settings you can "Enter the number of decimal places your shop needs in stock quantity fields. Set 0 to keep or 1 and higher to override the default WooCommerce NO decimal setting."

The problem is that the number of decimals is also available in the shop when activated. I do not want the customer to buy 1,33 of a product.

Is there any solution to this? (except storing my raw materials in grams. That will be a lot of grams when if tons of raw materials in stock...)

    Hi Alexander,

Thank you very much for this.

Nope, unfortunately, there is no function for this as yet. We plan to add the option to the Product Level add-on early next year. Another addition will be unit of measure later in 2019.

If you can, please, use grams for now.

    Hope that is ok.

Just to specify: What I would like is to be able to keep stock with decimals without making it possible to buy products with decimals.

Grams might get confusing. Let say I have 19232,45 kg in stock, that will be 19232450g and when the goods are traded in kg one will mess it up sooner or later .

Yes Alex, that is absolutely clear. This will be definitely introduced.

Are you selling your bill of materials as well I guess, correct?

Not actually, but it might happen.

The reason I am mentioning the decimals in the shop, is that the adding decimals in the stock quantity also affects how the shopping cart works. The shopping cart will then work with decimals as well. if you have one product in the cart and you push the '+' you end up with 1,01 instead of 2.

Ohhhh that is a different story all together.

Thank you very much. We will get this looked at immediately.

    Ok Alex,

Our devs will add an option to the settings to amend the behaviour when pressing the + and - sign.

What is happening now is the normal behaviour when using decimals but will give a choice, sure.

decimals in stock and sales should be different options.

We know Alex, this options are not for everybody yet. Your case is the one we do not support yet. But as you can see below we are trying to help you out.

ATUM is in early development stage and already the most advanced free solution on the market. Hope you can understand where I am coming from and that we do our best to suit everybody as quick as finances allow.

Just a quick question: even though decimals are not activated for stock control, it is possible to use decimals in BOM. What will then happen with the stock of the Raw Material?

  •  90
    Pavel replied

Alex, BOM products are WC products so what ever you do it will change everything. More decimal control will come later in 2019, but for now this is the only way of doing things.

Our guys have now added an option into settings (you will see it in version 1.5 released later today), where you can set the amount that will be added/removed from value when pressing the up and down arrows.

Ok, thanks, but if I sell 4 units each consisting of 1,25 of Raw Material 1, will the stock of Raw Material 1 be reduced with 5 in today's Woocommerce and ATUM?

It well should Alex and if it does, do let us know asap.
