    Hi,

Im sure this is a simple answer but I can't seen to find how to add a raw material within the product levels add-on, in order to then link that to a variable product.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Thank you very much for your question.

I will try to help out as quick as possible.

First you need to create a raw material within the add new product menu. Chose raw material as your product type.

After this is done, go to the product you want to add the raw material to. Within the 'Product data' menu, open the 'Bill Of Materials' tab. Start typing the name of the raw material you have created in first step. You can add the amount of raw materials used in this product as well.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for using Product Levels and ATUM as your inventory manager.

    Great, thanks for this info.

When I create a raw material as a new product. How do I then stop that product being visible on my site shop. The only thing I could think of was to make it a 'private' product, however this makes the raw material disappear from the bill of materials list.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Bill Of Material products are not visible by default.

Can you see it in your shop?

Yes. I think I have solved the issue now. It was because I had the products in a product category which was making them visible.

I have since discovered another issue that you might be able to help me with...

At the variable product level - If I do not mark the product as 'in stock' and place a value in the 'stock' field, the products are not able to be purchased on my shop as the product becomes marked as 'out of stock' even when I am managing stock via ATUM and my Product Levels plugin.

    Hi Dan,

I am glad you have sorted the issue, however, the raw material should not be visible at all as that is the configuration of the Product Part add-on. It should not matter what category you chose for it.

Is there any chance of back-end access, please? You can reply as private message with the log-in details and we can check what is going on.

Regarding the variable product, I find it difficult to understand what you mean? Even though the stock is managed by ATUM, the function you are describing belongs to WooCommerce itself.  I will try to help you by advising you to check the 'Allow Back Orders' function within the product in question. In the nature of WooCommerce products that are out of stock are not visible on the front end, unless you allow back orders.

    Hope this helps.

So - In the advice on your site about how to use Product Levels it says - Within a variable product, leave the 'stock level' field blank in order for ATUM plugin to manage your stock level (0r thats how I understand it). If I follow these instructions the product is unable to be purchased via the front end of my website as it automatically marks the product out of stock.

Checking the 'allow back orders' box will work however I would really like it if my product could mark as 'out of stock' on the front end of my website when Product Levels runs out of Raw Materials to make that product - is this possible?

    Thanks Again,

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Managing stock means taking care of, but you need to set the amount of products you want to sell.

I am not sure I understand what you want to do. I will try to explain:

Showing a product on the front end is not controlled by ATUM unfortunately, this is the job of WooCommerce. When you allow back orders, your product will run into minus state. Again this is something WooCommerce controls.

If I understand this correctly, you would like the product to run out of stock after all the raw materials is sold out, but you want the product to be visible and show out of stock status, right? There is a WooCommerce option to show out of stock products on Front End. Make sure you have this option unchecked in WooCommerce settings under products tab and inventory section.

Hope this solves it for you.
